I am a birth doula and an objective, reassuring presence during childbirth. As a labor assistant, I offer women continuous one-on-one care and provide a variety of helpful positions and comfort measures, which can result in a shorter labor with fewer complications. The role of a birth / labor doula is defined by the laboring woman and her birth partner. Each labor is unique and I adapt to the changing needs of the family who has hired me. Having doula support during labor may reduce the need for pain medications and the use of forceps or vacuum extraction and lowers your risk of an emergency c-section. In the event of a complication, I can help you understand the available alternatives to a medical intervention, providing security and confidence during childbirth.
